My name is Janette Goleme and I reside in Metuchen, NJ. I have been singing and acting most of my life. I am currently the soprano soloist at Grove Reformed Church in North Bergen, NJ. I have performed several cabaret/one woman shows. The most recent is entitled " A Musical Theatre Journey through American History". My dream is to perform this program throughout the country at historic sites.I have downloaded two selections from this progam on my website (Children of the Wind and He Plays the Violin). I am continually performing cabaret for various organizations in New Jersey and have been seen at Danny's Starlight Lounge in NYC. Over the years I have performed in opera, operetta, musical theatre, oratorio, recitals and in various churches as a soloist in the tri-state area. In June 2005, I was thrilled to be part of the Classical Singer Salute at Shea Stadium where we sang The Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America. I have been a quarterfinalist winner in the Savannah Onstage Competition and an alternate for the Joy Of Singing Competition in NYC.

I have two degrees in music, a B.A. in music education, and a M.A. in music with an emphasis in performing (voice). My career has been diverse and included running my own light opera company with my aunt who was a professional singer, designing costumes, producing, directing, and what ever else it takes to keep a company going! I began a new opera/operetta company called "Operantics" in 2010, and we did our first presentation of arias and ensembles on June 26, 2010 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Edison, NJ. This was followed by another performance at Grace Refomed Church in October of 2010. Since then, we have done 3 other performances at various churches and at the Sayreville Main Street Theatre. On December 1, 2012 we began performing under our newly incorporated name, Opera GoLightly, at Centenary Methodist Church in Metuchen, NJ, Grove Reformed Church, North Bergen, and on the Cliffside Park Library series in the spring of 2014. A compact version of our last program entitled,"Songs and Scenes from the Silver Screen" is planned for the spring of 2015 in NYC.

I also have my own private studio where I teach voice and piano, as well as at the Westerhoff School of Music and Art and Middlesex County College. Along with singing, teaching, and directing, I have a second career as a freelance writer, and currently write for Patch.com in Woodbridge, NJ.I can be contacted at: jgoleme@msn.com.
